Bengt Jan Jonsson

A successful cinematographer who has lensed feature films, commercials, and music videos, Bengt brings a distinctive eye to all of his projects.

Sparked at an early age to become a cinematographer, Bengt quickly became obsessed with photography which led him to study filmmaking in college. His desire to be a cinematographer was almost derailed by his father's insistence that he become a dentist and take over the family business. Although a career in dentistry seemed like a fantastic creative outlet, he remained true to his heart and continued his path in film with the eventual support of his family. His formal education culminated with a Masters Degree in Cinematography from the prestigious American Film Institute.

When asked what he loves most about the filmmaking process he replies, “… when the right people are involved in planning and crafting the right project, there comes a point where the film has a life, and it begins to walk and then run on its own. You can fight and kick against it, or jump on and go with it and be a part of something more special than you had imagined.” For Bengt – Duel was such an experience. Bengt is beginning to understand that the same holds true for parenting. He and his son currently live in the Los Angeles area.
